About Guided Teaching

Guided Teaching, Inc.is a provider of staff development and training resources for educators of all grade levels. We are an approved Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Provider for the State of Texas.

Founded by educators for educators, Guided Teaching, Inc. is providing professional staff development and training programs across the United States. Guided Teaching, Inc. is especially proud of its outstanding presenters, all of whom have extensive practical experience in their content areas and are leaders in their respective fields: English Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, Science, Library, and Classroom Management.

In addition to one-day staff development programs, Guided Teaching, Inc. offers on-going, sustained staff development. These custom-designed programs may include training sessions, classroom model lessons, teacher coaching, and/or most any service deemed necessary for the continued growth and development of your administrators, teachers and, ultimately, your students.

Our mission is to provide timely, effective, research-based professional staff development, resources, support, and encouragement for all educators.

About our Executive Director

Denni Kay Scates, Ph.D. is a dynamic presenter with a wealth of knowledge and experience drawn from her many years as an educator and librarian in public and private schools, as well as additional years teaching adults at the University level and with the Texas Education Service Center. Denni delivers sound, research-based, authentic programs presented with humor and enthusiasm. Her experience and research in literacy drive a passion for helping all students develop a love for learning, especially using quality literature as a model for reading and writing. Denni's fast-moving seminars are packed with practical strategies and useful ideas that are teacher-friendly and easy to implement.

Staff Development Should:

focus on teachers as central to student learning, yet include all other members of the school community;
focus on individual, collegial, and organizational improvement;
respect and nurture the intellectual and leadership capacity of teachers, principals, and others in the school community;
reflect best available research and practice in teaching, learning, and leadership;
enable teachers to develop further expertise in subject content, teaching strategies, uses of technologies, and other essential elements in teaching to high standards;
promote continuous inquiry and improvement embedded in the daily life of schools;
be planned collaboratively by those who will participate in and facilitate that development;
require substantial time and other resources;
be driven by a coherent long-term plan;
be evaluated ultimately on the basis of its impact on teacher effectiveness and student learning; and this assessment should guide subsequent professional development efforts.
